About this event

Day of Honor. Day of Action. 246 individuals in Summit County, OH lost their life to overdose in 2021. Join us in honoring them and committing to end overdose fatalities. We're going to be lining up 246 individuals to span the length of the All-American Bridge in Akron, OH to represent the lives lost. From downtown to the iconic St. Thomas Hospital, which is an icon in addiction recovery. Can you be available from 2-4 pm on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 to join us?

OVERDOSE AWARENESS DAY

  • 2-2:30pm: Check in at north/south side table (in red) & if registered pick up “End Overdose” t-shirt
  • 2:30-3pm: Safely walk to north/south side entrance to the All-American Bridge and stand side by side in place along the pedestrian walkway of the bridge
  • 3-3:30pm: Stand in place on the All-American bridge pedestrian walkway in our purple t-shirts. Take pictures/video of memorial representing the 235 lives lost in 2021 to drug overdoses. Have 235 seconds of silence. Make a commitment to do your part to #EndOverdose
  • 3:30-4pm: Safely disperse off All-American Bridge. Thank you for your participation.

Parking/Staging

  • Northside Parking/Staging - St. Thomas Hospital Parking Deck (in yellow)
    • Red line indicated walk from parking deck to the northside check-in/staging area on Main Street (by bus stop)

    Southside Parking/Staging

    • Broadway Public Parking Lots (close to United Way of Summit/Medina Counties)
    • Public Parking lots in (in yellow)
    • Red line indicated walk to check in table on the High Street sidewalk in front of the United Way building and safe walking to the south side of of All-American bridge

    Purple line is where we will line up between 3-3:30 on the pedestrian walkway of the All-American Bridge (Y-Bridge)

    • August 31st: 11:00 am- 12:00pm Facebook LIVE Panel discussion with county leaders discussing the current opiate epidemic and their efforts to save lives.
    • August 31- 2:00- 4:00 Remembrance of the lives lost on the All American Bridge
